PROJECTS Civil Eng. & Environment

Whether looking at energy efficiency, wind patterns in urban areas, or fire and heat dispersion in underground structures, CFD techniques can provide a level of detailed modelling on a large physical scale which is not possible using reduced techniques.

Complex, coupled numerical simulations from first principles are used to evaluate thermal comfort and ventilation problems, including human response models, forced and natural air flow in and around structures, and investigate innovative thermal bridge designs.

In a study based on actual physical terrain, infrastructure, and wind data, Renuda used advanced modelling on a combination of large computational domains and refined zones to evaluate the smoke dispersion and concentrations for underground fire scenarios.
