As in the Aerospace and Automotive industries, CFD techniques are widely used as part of the design and verification process in the rail industry.

CFD is used to improve passenger comfort and safety, and is a part of R&D on train and train station design and development, helping to understand product operating performance and to reduce design cycle times and costs.

Applications include thermodynamic issues such as brake and engine cooling, external and internal aerodynamics, climate control and safety.

On behalf of worldwide manufacturers and national train operators, Renuda has carried out studies involving external flow and acoustics, as well as internal flow for ventilation and heating, and driver and passenger thermal comfort evaluations.
