Helping France's national railway company SNCF to improve passenger comfort : optimising ventilation ducting in high speed trains. Building on its experience with previous successful modelling thermal comfort projects, Renuda simulated and tested several configurations and identified an optimised solution which would improve SNCF passengers' comfort.

Helping Danfoss to reduce energy waste : modelling unsteady scroll compressor flow. Having worked successfully with Danfoss on previous internal flow projects, Renuda implemented and validated a simplified approach which makes possible to examine Intermediate Discharge Port (IDP) on different compressor types, avoiding complex and costly simulations.

| JUNE 2013 - WHEN COMPRESSING COSTS LEADS TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Working in collaboration with Danfoss Commercial Compressors, Renuda has developed an efficient CFD model for modelling the impact of intermediate discharge port (IDP) on scroll compressor performance using ANSYS Fluent. The CFD results indicated that an IDP can help reduce the energy consumption of a typical scroll by 9%.

| MAR 2013 – OPEN SOURCE CODE - SAVE ON PROJECT COSTS

The use of CFD in Industry is dominated by commercial codes. However, the current requirement to solve ever larger and more complex problems can result in significant increases in software costs.

Open source CFD directly eliminates this software cost. In close collaboration with ALSTOM Transport, RENUDA has successfully tested and validated open source calculation chains, CAD -> Meshing -> Simulation -> Analysis, for thermal comfort.

This test and validation program has clearly demonstrated that open source chains using the Code_Saturne or OpenFOAM® CFD solvers can be used efficiently in an industrial environment for a fraction of the cost.
